Congratulations to The Shape of Water for their 4 Academy Awards

From all of us at Palais Royale and the Pegasus Hospitality Group we want to congratulate “The Shape of Water” for winning
four academy awards. It was our pleasure to host your Oscar party here at Palais Royale, and thank you Paul Denham Austerberry for the Shout Out from the Oscar stage. It was a thrill for us to be part of this historic moment, and proud to know that our cities of Toronto and Hamilton were such an intrinsic part of the film.

Congratulations to all cast and crew of The Shape of Water!

Chicago artist Justus Roe, paints Roncesvalles pedestrian bridge mural opposite Palais Royale

image001This summer Palais Royale, Mayor John Tory and Chicago artist Justus Roe unveiled the City’s latest piece of street art. The project was part of a cultural exchange between sister cities Toronto and Chicago to commemorate Canada’s 150th birthday and the ‘Year of Public Art’ that is taking place in Chicago.

The project is part of the StreetARToronto Partnership Program and is a collaboration with the STEPS Initiative, an award-winning, Toronto-based public arts organization. The project brought together the artist and local residents to transform the Roncesvalles Pedestrian Bridge, one of Toronto’s busiest connections to the waterfront.

Justus Roe, an American artist, lives and works in Chicago.
He works in a variety of visual mediums including canvas painting, large scale wall paintings / murals and sculptural installations. His work references architecture, city grid systems, and landscapes. His stylized forms, mark making and color palette develop work that is at once reminiscent of aerial perspectives and metropolitan environments.

Come down to the waterfront to see this amazing piece of street art.

They Met and were Engaged at Palais Royale

EngagementPalais Royale has a tradition of creating memories.

Farid and Parmis met at Palais Royale on December 31st 2011, five minutes before the New Year’s Eve ball dropped.

They spoke until 3 in the morning on the deck of Palais, and realized there was a spark.  Five years later, Farid brought Parmis back to Palais “just to see the place again and bring back the memories of when they first met”. Little did she realize that Farid was about to propose on that same deck they got to know each other for the first time.

And of course she said yes.

It is always such a pleasure to continue the tradition of creating memories here at Palais Royale.

We wish Parmis and Farid a lifetime of happiness.
